Compete in some of the many Competitive Classes at the Show!

Why not compete in one or more of the many competitive classes held at Moorgreen Show every year? From Horses, Cattle, Goats and Sheep through to Dogs, Pets and Cavies, Ferrets and Pigeons, and from our Horticultural Show through to Classic Cars & Vehicles through to Poultry, Waterfowl & Egg - there is something for everyone!

And lets not forget the legendary Moorgreen Sausage Catching Championship (sadly despite popular demand, this one is for dogs only - ravenous adult males need not apply!), there is a huge variety of serious and more fun competitive classes covering a multitude of different areas!

Our Competitors section features all the competitive sections, classes and shows held at Moorgreen Country Show, together with any available downloadable Schedules of Classes wherever possible featuring details of all the classes held in that section, entry forms/statements, contact information for the section secretaries, entry fees, deadlines, together with further information about the classes, news and announcements regarding any important updates and more!

  • Horticultural Show
    The Horticultural Show at Moorgreen Show is a much-loved regular favourite at the show for visitors and competitors alike, and is jam-packed with a huge variety of competitive classes.

    There are competitive classes for all manner of Horticultural produce including a Variety of Vegetables, such as Potatoes, Carrots, Beetroot, Parsnips, Onions, Leeks, Shallots, Runner Beans, Dwarf Beans, Peas, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Marrow, Pumpkin, Courgettes, Cucumber, Celery, Tomatoes and more, as well as Fruits, such as Blackberries, Apples, Pears, and Plums.

    And that's not forgetting the fantastic array of flowers in our competitive flower classes in the Flower section of the Horticultural Show, featuring the National Gladioli Championships from the Gladioli Society, as well as classes for Chrysanthemums, Dahlia's, Cut Flowers, Begonia's, Fuschias, Pot Plants, Displays, Floral Art, and classes for beginners / novices.

    There is also the Culinary Section of the Horticultural Show including various Cake and confectionery classes, as well as classes for Bread, Savouries and Preserves.

    Additionally, there is also a section of classes specially for children.

    On the Saturday night before the Show, a Horticultural Preview and Prize Presentation Evening is also held.

  • Light Horses
    The ever-popular Light Horse Show at Moorgreen Show features 200 Classes (yep, thats 200 classes!) held over the Sunday and Monday of the Show for Light Horses and Ponies. New for 2010 are the Equestrian Life magazine 'Showing' and Working Hunter' Qualifiers. Classes at the Show are also qualifiers for several major UK Light Horse Shows around the country.

    There are competitive light horse classes for Riding Pony Breeding In Hand, Anglo / Part Arab Breeding In Hand, Show Hunter Pony Breeding In Hand, Young Handler, Family Horse or Pony, Style and Appearance, Local Rider, Mountain and Moorland, Shetland Pony, Miniature Shetland, Welsh Pony / Cobs, Palomino's, Side Saddle and many more!

  • Cattle (MONDAY Only)
    At the heart of Moorgreen Country Show are its Livestock Cattle Classes which take place on the Monday only. Featuring competitive classes for many different breeds including Holstein Friesian, Jersey Cattle, Dexter Cattle, British Native Breeds, Highland Cattle, Hereford Cattle, Pure Bred Charolais, British Simmental, British Limousin, British Blue Cattle, and Commercial Beef, together with classes for Young Handlers, with many trophy and cup awards to be had.

  • Sheep (MONDAY Only)
    In addition to the numerous Cattle Classes held at Moorgreen Country Show, the Show plays host to considerable number of competitive classes for sheep, which again take place on the Monday only - including classes for Pure Native UK Breeds, Charollais Sheep, Pure Continental Breeds, Cross Bred, and Commercial Lamb with a class for Young Handlers.

  • Fun Dog Show
    In recent years Moorgreen Country Show has become host to a very popular and Fun Dog Show which now spans both days at the Show. The Fun Dog Show features competitive classes intended to give dog owners and handlers, as well as their dogs of course, a taster of what is required for more serious competitive showing.

    The Show includes classes for Puppies, Pedigrees of any variety, Non-Pedigrees of any variety, Handsomest Dog, Prettiest Bitch, Best Rescue Dog or Bitch, Best Greyhound Dog or Bitch, Best Veteran (over 7 years), Dog with the Waggiest Tail, Best Fancy Dress, and the Judges Favourite all taking place on both days!

    If you're a dog lover and owner of one of our wonderful four-legged friends why not take part and enter them!

  • Classic Cars & Vehicles
    Competitive Classes for Classic Cars, Vans, British Motorcycles, Emergency Service Vehicles, and American Auto's is always a popular attention-grabber at Moorgreen Country Show, featuring classic vehicles from yesteryear (25 years and older), and also vehicles that may be deemed to be more unusual, rare or interesting from more recent years.

    To complement the Classic Collection there will be displays of Vintage Fire Engines, Ambulances and hopefully Vintage Tractors and Commercial Vehicles, and the Show President will pick their own favourite personal choice with the "President's Choice" award!

    A fun and exciting attraction for visitors and competitors alike.
