WELCOME TO MOORGREEN SHOW 2008.
We are working on an exciting line up of attractions for the 159th edition of the Moorgreen Country Show which will be held on a 40 acre Showground at Watnall on August 24th and 25th.
The Show prides itself on providing an interesting mix of rural entertainment and education - a programme which appeals to around 15,000 visitors each year and which earns the Show the reputation of offering "a Champion day out for the whole Family."
Top of the bill is an authentic period costume display of how Elizabethan ladies on horse back hunted with hawks. Back by popular demand will be the JCBalls Digger Dance team to thrill the crowds with their close formation, precisely choreographed routines.
Making its debut at Moorgreen will be the hilarious Racing Piglets contest while dog owners will be encouraged to enter their pets in the inaugural Sausage Catching competition. The fun Dog Show has been extended to two days as has the exciting Fly Ball racing.
Strolling round the Showground will be members of the UK Garrison of Star Wars in their fabulous costumes.
There are competitions for cattle, sheep and goats as well as the magnificent Shire Horses. Over 1,000 competitors are expected for the equestrian classes. On a smaller scale there are shows for ferrets, guinea pigs, poultry and pigeons as well as bees, bloodhounds and terriers.
